How does the Trinity build in us a shepherd’s heart?

The work of the Father is first to sanctify. He knows us and draws us to Himself. Second, He supplies so that we have all we need. Third, He gives security because He alone can promise that our good done for His glory will not be forgotten. The work of the Son is first as the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd knows His sheep and lays down His life for His sheep (John 10:11, 14). Second, He is the Great Shepherd who perfects His sheep (Heb 13:20-21). Third, He is the Chief Shepherd who rewards His shepherds (1 Peter 5:5) The work of the Spirit of course is to magnify the Son. When we fail to respond correctly to His Good Shepherd work (salvation) or His Great Shepherd work (sanctification), He convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:9), of sin because we look to things to satisfy, of righteousness because we have failed to seek the righteousness of Christ, of judgment, because we have forgotten the rewards of faithful service.
