Welcome to JimSwanson.com - a site dedicated to sharing insights from my personal Bible studies and quotes I like.
The site sections are accessible through the links above. “About” shares more on who I am and my background. “Thoughts” is the main section this site was designed for and can be accessed through the excerpts at right or by using the index in the far right column. The “Stories” page contains a series of stories I wrote for our local paper. “Music” contains information and samples of songs I have written as memory aids to learning Bible verses.

Japan is leading the way in making human-like robots? But Someone already beat them to it, and did a better job!
With the invention of microelectronics, robots have become increasing sophisticated. The one in the picture was recently unveiled. “Covered in a grey putty-like silicone skin the baby bot can roll around and ‘speak’. It can even take a few steps if encouraged enough. Built by Japanese scientists Minoru Asada and Hiroshi Ishiguro. . ., the robot called CB2 weighs 33kg (72 lbs) and stands 130cm (51 inches) tall. It has 197 tactile sensors embedded in its outer layer and 51 compressed air-powered actuators, which allow it to react to touch. When CB2’s shoulders are tapped, it blinks as if surprised, stops moving, and turns its gaze toward the person who touched it. It will also try and grab a toy dangled in front of it. Future research at the Japanese Science and Technology Agency in Osaka will attempt to improve the body functions of CB2 - whose full name is ‘Child-robot with Biomimetic Body.’ They also want to write software allowing it to walk and talk like a three-year-old.” http://www.pinktentacle.com/2007/06/cb2-baby-humanoid-robot/ Also check out online videos of CB2)
Are you amazed? Not to belittle this technological achievement, but, frankly, I could do all this by the time I was one! And without a team of scientists programming me! Plus, I was born with 12 heat receptors, 2 cold receptors, 200 pain receptors, 25 pressure receptors , a total of 72 feet of nerves in each square inch of skin! As amazing as man’s inventive genius is, God’s work is infinitely more complex. Here is the most amazing aspect of this: No one would dare perpetrate a lie, saying that CB2 assembled by accident as the result of a laboratory explosion. So why would anyone dare believe our bodies are the result of biological accidents? Such a notion is infinitely more absurd!
